Ultra-marathoner Sufiya Sufi from Rajasthan has created history by setting a new Guinness World Record after completing the challenging 480 km Manali-to-Leh route in 98 hours and 27 minutes.
Battling extreme altitude, low oxygen levels, freezing temperatures, and rugged Himalayan terrain, Sufiya became the fastest woman to complete the route on foot in under 100 hours. The remarkable feat was officially recognised by Guinness World Records, cementing her place among the world’s elite endurance athletes.
Notably, Sufiya surpassed her own previous record set in 2021, showcasing exceptional determination, physical strength, and mental resilience. The Manali-Leh highway is considered one of the toughest endurance routes globally due to its steep climbs and harsh conditions.
