India U19 Women Begin SAFF Championship Campaign with Victory

India’s U19 women’s football team made a strong start to their SAFF U19 Women’s Championship 2026 campaign, defeating Nepal 1–0 at full time. The Young Tigresses displayed discipline, energy, and composure to secure a crucial opening win in the tournament.

The decisive moment came in the 49th minute, when Pearl Fernandes found the back of the net, giving India a well-deserved lead. The goal proved enough as the Indian side maintained defensive solidity and controlled the tempo of the game thereafter.

Throughout the match, India showed superior organization and teamwork, pressing effectively and limiting Nepal’s attacking opportunities. The midfield played a key role in dictating play, while the defense remained compact under pressure.
